Poshmark photo size: listing photos are now portrait (3:4)
Older Poshmark advice says to shoot square photos. That changed in 2026: listing photos now appear in portrait format, 3:4. Here’s what that means for your closet.
The current format: portrait 3:4
Poshmark says listing photos now display in portrait (3:4) instead of square (1:1) across search and feeds. Items like dresses, pants and full outfits appear larger and more detailed.
A 3:4 photo is taller than it is wide. Some devices label the same shape 4:3 — it’s the same format.
The easiest way to get it right: use your phone’s default camera mode, which already shoots in 3:4. No manual cropping needed. As a practical size, anything around 1500 × 2000 pixels or larger stays sharp.
What about my old square photos?
No action is needed. Poshmark says:
- your original photos are preserved;
- in search and feeds, square photos are automatically framed into portrait, which may crop them slightly;
- shoppers who tap into your listing see the original, full image.
You can update your cover photos to portrait so they look their best in the feed — but Poshmark says it isn’t required. Start with your best sellers and newest listings.
On desktop, photos also display in a portrait frame; use the crop and zoom tools if needed.
How to shoot a cover photo that fits
From Poshmark’s tips:
- Center your item vertically so it displays well in the feed.
- Fill the frame with the item — full-length or close-up.
- Leave a little space around the edges so it frames well everywhere.
- Use a white or simple background so the item is the focus.
- Natural light from a window works best; household bulbs can cast a yellow tint, especially on denim. A ring light helps if your space is dark.
- Keep one consistent style (flat-lay, hanger, mannequin or modeled) across your closet.
Your cover photo is the first impression in search. If listings still aren’t selling, see Poshmark items not selling.
