Etsy shop not showing up on Google? What you can and can’t control

Searching your shop name on Google and finding nothing is unsettling — but it’s common for new shops and listings, and it says nothing about whether shoppers can find you on Etsy itself. Here’s how Google works with Etsy pages and what you can influence.

Google, not Etsy, decides

For a page to appear in Google, Google has to find it, crawl it and add it to its index. Etsy’s Seller Handbook notes that indexing doesn’t happen overnight. New shops and new listings can take some time to show up, and Google decides on its own when — and whether — to index a page.

A quick check: search Google for your exact shop name together with “Etsy”, or for a distinctive listing title in quotes. If nothing comes up after a few weeks, the pages probably aren’t indexed yet.

You can’t add your Etsy shop to Google Search Console or submit its pages for indexing — that requires owning the domain, and etsy.com belongs to Etsy. Services that promise to “force” Google to index your Etsy shop can’t do anything you can’t.

What you can control

Listing titles. Your item title becomes the page title Google shows, and Google typically displays only the first 50–60 characters. Lead with the words that describe the item, write titles that accurately reflect the product, and keep them short — Etsy’s newer title guidance suggests fewer than 15 words.

Descriptions and photos. Etsy’s guide explains that page content — title, description, images — helps Google’s crawler understand what a page is about. A first sentence that plainly says what the item is helps both Google and shoppers.

Your shop’s own content. Shop title, About section and announcement are all text on your shop page. Make them describe what you sell, in the words people search.

Links to your shop. Google finds pages through links. Linking to your shop from your own website, blog or social profiles gives Google more ways to discover it.

One thing to know: a listing’s URL stays fixed after you publish it, even if you edit the title later — so there’s no need to delete and relist to “refresh” Google.

Focus on Etsy search first

Most Etsy buyers search on Etsy itself, and that’s where you have the most control. If your listings aren’t showing in Etsy search either, start there: Etsy listing getting no views and our free Etsy visibility checker.
