Facebook Marketplace listing not showing up or getting no views? What to check

Marketplace doesn’t work like a store with a fixed shelf. Each buyer sees a different, personalized feed, ranked by Meta’s systems. So “my listing isn’t showing up” can mean it’s been held back — or just that it’s losing out in the ranking. Check in this order.

1. Is the listing actually live?

Go to your profile, open the menu, then Profile status → Marketplace (under Extra features) → Your listings.

  • Under Needs attention? It was rejected — open it and click See details. Rejected listings are excluded from what buyers see.
  • Still in review? It isn’t shown until the review finishes. See Marketplace listing in review.
  • A warning about your Marketplace access? Limits can affect all your listings. See Marketplace access restricted.

2. Is the location right?

Meta lists the distance between the item and the buyer among the signals for Marketplace ranking. Each listing has its own location, set when you create it. If it’s set to the wrong city — or a place you don’t actually pick up from — the listing is shown to buyers who are too far away, and not to the ones near you.

3. Are you searching the right way?

Your own feed and search aren’t a reliable test: results are personalized, depend on your location and filters, and Marketplace hides categories and listings a viewer has chosen not to see. Ask a friend in your area to search for it, or check whether the listing is getting clicks and messages. If your searches come up empty for everything, see Marketplace showing no results.

4. It’s live but nobody clicks: ranking

Meta’s description of the Marketplace ranking system mentions signals such as:

  • how recently the item was listed;
  • the item’s price, category and condition;
  • distance to the buyer;
  • how often people click through, scroll the listing and click the photos.

In practice:

  • Real price, not a placeholder. A $1 “message me for price” listing wastes buyers’ time and is unlikely to hold their attention.
  • Your own photos, several of them. Stock images and screenshots don’t show the actual item; buyers swipe through photos before they message.
  • A descriptive title. Brand (only if genuine), item type, size or model — the words someone nearby would search.
  • The right category and condition.

Meta also says it applies integrity processes to reduce the distribution of content that is fraudulent or low-quality. Listings that look like spam — vague titles, placeholder prices, copied photos — work against you even when they break no rule.

Deleting and reposting the same item over and over can look like spam. If a listing is old, improve the price, photos or title instead.
