Merchant Center “Missing shipping costs”: how to add shipping

“Missing shipping costs” is a blocking issue: Google says these products won’t show to customers until you add a shipping cost. You can fix it in two places — once for your whole account, or product by product. Google’s tip: set up account shipping first, then override it for specific products only where needed.

Option 1: a shipping policy for your account (recommended)

  1. In Merchant Center, go to Products & store → Shipping and returns.
  2. On the Shipping policies tab, select Add shipping policy. If asked, choose Shipping for online products (this appears when your account also has local inventory).
  3. Select the country or countries the policy covers.
  4. Set the Products, Delivery times and Shipping costs.
  5. Select Save.

Changes can take 24–72 hours to show in your account.

Google notes you may also need to send shipping weight [shipping_weight], and shipping length / width / height [shipping_length] [shipping_width] [shipping_height] for each product.

Option 2: the shipping attribute per product

Use the shipping [shipping] attribute in your product data when a product’s shipping is different from your account settings.

  1. Go to Products & store → Products → Needs attention.
  2. Filter for the issue and download the list (.csv).
  3. Make sure each affected product has a valid shipping value (and weight or dimensions if your rates need them).
  4. Re-upload your product data. Allow 24–72 hours.

If the issue instead names a sub-attribute of shipping — such as country — Google has a separate help page for it; the fix is to add that missing part of your shipping value.

Using Shopify or WooCommerce?

If your products come from a store app, check the shipping settings there too, since the next sync can overwrite changes. See Merchant Center for Shopify or Merchant Center for WooCommerce.

When the products show again, check Merchant Center product status for any remaining issues.
