TikTok Shop free shipping for sellers: the $30 threshold and who pays
If your TikTok Shop shipping costs went up, this is why: TikTok Shop ended its shipping subsidies and moved sellers to a Free Shipping program where you pay for the free shipping. Here’s how it works, from TikTok Shop Academy.
What changed
On May 29, 2025, TikTok Shop ended Co-Funded Free Shipping (CFFS) and replaced it with the Free Shipping program:
- TikTok Shipping and Seller Shipping: the $0.80 per-order subsidy ended. Sellers cover the shipping cost so shoppers still get free shipping.
- Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT): the $0.75 per-item subsidy ended. Sellers pay the standard FBT fulfillment fee; shoppers keep FBT free shipping.
The $30 threshold
What matters is your shop-level free shipping threshold — the order amount above which shipping is free.
- $30 or less (including $0): you’re in the program and get its benefits. $0 and $30 get the same benefits.
- Above $30: you’re out of the program.
- There’s one threshold for all categories.
- Sellers who were in CFFS were moved in automatically.
- FBT products are already enrolled, and FBT can’t opt out. The threshold setting only applies to TikTok Shipping and Seller Shipping orders.
What you get for joining
TikTok Shop lists:
- more visibility on the Shop tab, in search results and on the For You page;
- access to free shipping campaigns, Flash Deals and campaign landing pages, plus TikTok Shop coupons;
- a free shipping badge on products and in LIVE streams, and a place in the free shipping channel and free shipping filter;
- inclusion in a product pool that creators pick from.
How to decide
Free shipping isn’t free for you — the cost comes out of your margin. Before you set a $30-or-lower threshold:
- Work out your average shipping cost per order.
- Enter it as What you pay for shipping in the TikTok Shop fee calculator, with $0 shipping paid by the customer, and check what’s left.
- If the margin is too thin, raise prices slightly, or set the threshold just above $30 and give up the exposure.
Seller Center shows your free shipping coverage (share of orders with free shipping), free shipping GMV share, and the average conversion uplift across the industry after offering free shipping.
Colorado Retail Delivery Fee
For orders delivered by motor vehicle to Colorado, TikTok — as marketplace facilitator — collects and remits Colorado’s retail delivery fee where it applies. It’s refunded if the order is cancelled before anything ships.
