Walmart seller account suspended: suppression, pause, suspension and how to appeal
Walmart has four levels of account action, and they’re not the same. Which one you got decides whether your listings are still live, whether you’re paid, and whether you can appeal at all.
The four statuses
| Status | What happens | Can you fix it? |
|---|---|---|
| Suppression | Your seller-fulfilled listings can’t be bought and may show as out of stock. WFS listings stay on Walmart.com. | Appeal |
| Pause | Both seller-fulfilled and Walmart-fulfilled listings can’t be bought and may show as out of stock | Complete the required tasks on the Seller Center homepage |
| Suspension | All listings can’t be bought and can’t be found on Walmart.com. Seller Center access is restricted and payments are put on hold | Appeal |
| Termination | All listings removed; selling privileges and Seller Center access permanently revoked. Payments put on hold | No appeal |
Two things to note from Walmart’s policy:
- A pause is usually about failing to meet requirements — not an appeal case. Look for the tasks on your Seller Center homepage.
- Walmart says it can terminate accounts that stay suspended beyond a reasonable threshold without a successful appeal or reinstatement. Don’t sit on a suspension.
Find out why
Walmart notifies you by email and in Seller Center. The email includes the reason, whether you’re eligible to appeal, and any other actions required. If you were terminated, Walmart isn’t required to give a reason.
Most performance-related actions come from the Seller Performance Standards — cancellation, on-time delivery, tracking, response, returns and more. See Walmart Seller Performance Standards for the exact targets.
How to appeal
1. Review your performance
Open the Performance page in Seller Center and work out which metric you missed and why. The dashboard lists the drivers behind each metric and lets you download reports of the affected orders.
2. Write a business plan of action
Walmart asks for a written business plan of action with:
- a description of the violation; and
- the steps you plan to take to correct it.
If you broke the Marketplace Retailer Agreement, also explain the steps you’ve taken to prevent further violations.
Depending on the reason, Walmart may also ask for:
- current images of your warehouse;
- distributor or supplier invoices less than two months old;
- intellectual property documents.
These show that the items in your catalog are on hand, or that you’re allowed to sell them. Walmart says not providing them may get your appeal denied.
A plan that works is specific. “We will ship faster” is weak; “Late shipments came from one carrier’s missed pickups; we moved to daily scheduled pickups with a second carrier and raised lag time on our bulky items from 1 to 2 days” is the kind of root cause and fix Walmart is asking for.
Plan of action template
Fill in every [bracket] with your own facts — a generic plan is easy to reject. The three parts follow what Walmart asks for: the violation, how you’re correcting it, and how you’ll prevent it.
Subject: Plan of action — [Seller ID] — [suppression / suspension] on [date]
-
Description of the violation: On [date], my account was [suppressed / suspended] because [metric or policy, e.g. On-Time Delivery Rate was 84% against the 90% standard]. After reviewing the Performance page and the affected orders, I found the root cause: [specific cause, e.g. 31 of 40 late orders shipped with one carrier that missed scheduled pickups].
-
Steps taken to correct the issue: [what you already did, with dates — e.g. moved those items to a second carrier on [date]; increased lag time for items over 20 lb from 1 to 2 days; contacted and resolved all open customer inquiries].
-
Steps to prevent it happening again: [ongoing process — e.g. daily check of the Performance dashboard; weekly carrier scan audit; inventory sync every 15 minutes]. [If inventory or rights were questioned: attached are supplier invoices dated [date] and current warehouse photos.]
I understand and will comply with the Seller Performance Standards and Walmart Marketplace retailer policies. Thank you for reviewing my appeal.

3. Submit it
- Suppression: a seller fulfillment deactivation warning appears as a banner on the Performance page. Select Start appeal.
- Suspension: select Help in the Seller Center menu bar to contact support, then follow the steps to submit your plan.
Walmart handles appeals in the order they’re received and contacts you with the decision. An appeal doesn’t guarantee reinstatement.
If you’re reinstated
Keep following your plan. Walmart says failing to improve may result in a second suspension or account termination.
