TikTok Shop product reviewing, failed or frozen? What each status means and how long review takes
TikTok Shop sorts products into statuses in Seller Center, and three of them cause most of the confusion: Reviewing, Failed and Frozen. They sit together under the Suspended tab, but they mean very different things — especially Frozen.
What each status means
Live — visible and purchasable by customers.
Reviewing — the product is being checked. You can still edit it, but editing restarts the review.
Failed — the product information doesn’t comply with product guidelines. You get an email with the reason, and you can fix it and resubmit.
Frozen — TikTok Shop treats the product as illegal, harmful or counterfeit. You get an email with the reason, and you can’t modify or resubmit it.
Deactivated — you took it offline; you can bring it back with Activate. Draft — saved but not submitted. Deleted — removed by you; it can be restored to Deactivated with Recover.
These definitions come from TikTok Shop’s seller guidance, and wording can differ by region and over time. The status and email in your own Seller Center are what count.
How long does review take?
For edits to existing products, TikTok Shop says changes are generally reviewed within 24 hours, and up to 48 hours during campaigns. While an edit is reviewed, the old version typically stays live until the new one is approved — so editing a live product doesn’t usually take it offline.
Two practical rules:
- Don’t keep editing while it’s reviewing. Each edit restarts the check.
- Make all your changes in one go, especially before a campaign, when reviews take longer.
What to do for each
Reviewing for a long time: wait out the stated window before changing anything. If it’s far past it, check Seller Center notifications for a request you missed.
Failed: read the reason in the email, fix exactly that, and resubmit. Common causes are listing details that don’t match the product, missing required attributes, or main images that break the image rules (see TikTok Shop product image size). Our free TikTok Shop listing checker checks titles, images and attributes before you resubmit.
Frozen: you can’t edit your way out of it. Check Shop Health → Violation Records for the related violation. If you believe the product isn’t illegal, harmful or counterfeit, appeal there with evidence — invoices, authorization letters, test reports — before the ticket’s timer runs out. See TikTok Shop violation points and AHR.
