Vinted account banned or suspended? Temporary vs. permanent, and how to appeal
A banned Vinted account is alarming, especially with sales or money in your balance. Vinted’s process is fairly clear, though: the decision message tells you what kind of ban it is and whether you can appeal. Here’s how it works, based on Vinted’s UK help centre.
Temporary or permanent?
Temporary bans lift automatically after 7 to 30 days, depending on the reason. When you log in you can see the date the ban ends. Vinted says it can’t lift a temporary ban earlier unless you show evidence that the account was banned by mistake.
Permanent bans are for more serious or repeated problems. You still have limited access — for example to contact Vinted about the possibility of unbanning the account.
How to appeal
You’ll find the appeal link in the Vinted inbox message or email with the official moderation decision. In the appeal:
- explain why you believe the decision was incorrect;
- include supporting evidence — receipts or proof that an item was genuine, screenshots of conversations, tracking.
You can appeal only once, and within 6 months of receiving the decision. Make it complete the first time.
An appeal outline you can fill in:
Account: [username]. Decision received on [date]: [reason in Vinted’s message].
I believe this decision is incorrect because [specific facts — e.g. the [brand] bag I sold is genuine; I bought it from [store] on [date]].
Evidence attached: [receipt / proof of authenticity / screenshots of the conversation / tracking].
Thank you for reviewing my appeal.
If the appeal fails
Vinted lists two further options outside its own process:
- submitting the dispute to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body;
- bringing an action before national courts, under your local laws.
Common reasons accounts get banned
Vinted’s policies cover, for example, counterfeit items — which Vinted removes and which can lead to suspension — and items that aren’t allowed under its Catalogue Rules. If you sell branded items, keep proof that they’re genuine. If individual listings were hidden or removed rather than the whole account, see Vinted items not selling.
Don’t open a new account to keep selling during a ban. Wait for a temporary ban to end, or appeal — a second account can make the situation worse.
