Vinted shipping for sellers: the 5-day deadline and why orders get cancelled

On Vinted, shipping is simple — the buyer pays and you get a prepaid label — but the deadline is strict. Miss it and the order is cancelled automatically. Here’s how it works on vinted.com.

How shipping works

  • The buyer pays for shipping. The cost depends on package size and both locations, and the buyer sees it at checkout.
  • The buyer picks the carrier from the options you offer.
  • After the sale, Vinted sends a prepaid shipping label to your email and Vinted inbox.

Use the carrier the buyer chose. Vinted can’t track packages sent with a different provider, so it will cancel the order and refund the buyer.

You choose which carriers to offer in Settings → Shipping (you can’t disable all of them, or all international shipping). More options mean better chances of a sale. If a disabled carrier is the buyer’s only option, it may still appear at checkout — if you can’t ship with it, you can cancel without negative feedback.

The 5-business-day deadline

You have 5 business days from the purchase to ship. If Vinted gets no tracking update or shipping confirmation within that time, the order is cancelled the next business day (processing can take up to a day).

Tracking not updating?

Tracking can take up to 48 hours to update. If you’ve shipped and it hasn’t, press “I confirm I’ve sent the order” so the order isn’t cancelled while tracking catches up.

Need more time?

Ask the buyer to extend the deadline by 3 or 5 business days — they can accept or decline:

  1. In the conversation with the buyer, press Extend shipping deadline (or the ⓘ icon in the top right).
  2. Choose Extend shipping deadline and pick 3 or 5 extra business days.
  3. Add a reason if you like, then press Request for extension.

You can ask before or after generating the label.

A short reason helps the buyer say yes:

Hi! I’m so sorry — I need a few more days to send your order because [reason]. It will ship by [date]. Thanks for your patience!

Why orders get cancelled automatically

  • you didn’t download the label in time (5 business days);
  • you didn’t ship in time (5 business days);
  • you shipped with a different method than the buyer chose;
  • you didn’t press “I confirm that I’ve sent this order” when tracking didn’t update after drop-off.

Cancellation isn’t always instant. If you ship after the deadline but before the cancellation, Vinted will ask the buyer to refuse the package so it comes back to you. Once cancelled, the buyer is refunded, and you can Re-upload item from the conversation.

Orders can also be cancelled after a buyer reports an issue — damage in transit, a lost package, or an item significantly not as described. See Vinted buyer reported an issue.

Can’t ship for a while?

  • Turn on vacation mode to hide your listings for up to 90 days — it stops new orders, and you can switch it off any time. It doesn’t extend any Bumps you’ve bought.
  • If you cancel yourself, you can agree with the buyer to edit or delete negative feedback, and reserve the item for them for up to 5 calendar days to sell it later.

Payment only reaches you after delivery and completion — see when you get paid on Vinted.
