TikTok Shop account restricted, suspended or deactivated? What to do first
When a TikTok Shop is restricted, the symptoms are blunt: you can’t create new listings, you can’t join campaigns, or the shop is deactivated. In nearly every case it traces back to violations recorded against the shop. Here’s how to find them and what you can still do — based on TikTok Shop’s US seller guidelines.
Restricted or deactivated?
In the US, violations take points off your Account Health Rating (AHR), which starts at 200:
- at 150, 100 and 50 points, the shop may be unable to create new listings or enroll in new mega campaigns for 7, 14 and 28 days;
- at 50 points or fewer the rating is red and the shop is at risk of deactivation;
- at 0 the account may be permanently deactivated.
So “I can’t add products” for a week is usually a milestone restriction, not a ban. See TikTok Shop violation points and AHR for the full table.
Step 1: find the violation tickets
TikTok Shop says every violation is notified at least by email and a Seller Center Inbox message, and the most serious ones — such as those that may lead to account deactivation — through every channel.
In Seller Center, open Shop Health → Violation Records. Each ticket shows:
- Pending — the enforcement action hasn’t taken effect yet; or
- Enforcement action taken — it has.
Step 2: act before the timer runs out
Each violation has a timer. Once it runs out, TikTok Shop says you lose the chance to appeal, correct the violation or take the quiz. For a pending violation, you must successfully correct or appeal it before the deadline.
Your options:
- Correct — fix the listing or problem the ticket names. Often the fastest route when the violation is real.
- Appeal — if the violation was a mistake. Generally the first appeal is due within 30 calendar days of the notice and, if it fails, a second within 15 calendar days of that decision — but some tickets have shorter timers, so go by the one on the ticket. TikTok Shop says a successful appeal cancels the violation and its enforcement actions.
- Quiz — where offered, it can earn points or reduce how long restrictions last.
Step 3: write an appeal that can succeed
From Violation Records → View & Appeal → Appeal, give a clear explanation of why the action was a mistake, and attach supporting documents, images or videos — invoices, authorization letters, product photos. TikTok Shop says decisions are final once the appeal is concluded, and reactivating a deactivated seller account is at its sole discretion. Make the first appeal complete.
An appeal outline you can fill in:
Violation: [violation name and ticket ID], issued on [date] for [product / video / order ID].
Why this is a mistake: [specific facts — e.g. the product is genuine [brand], bought from the authorized distributor [name]; the listing title and photos match the item].
Evidence attached: [invoices dated [date] / authorization letter / product and packaging photos / screenshots].
[If something did need fixing: I have also [edited the listing / removed the claim] on [date].]
Please review and remove this violation. Thank you.
Don’t open a new shop to get around a restriction or deactivation. It usually breaks TikTok Shop’s rules and can get the new shop shut down too. Rules also differ by region — check your own Seller Center.
Stop it happening again
TikTok Shop says repeated violations bring stronger enforcement each time. Once you’ve fixed the listing that was flagged, check the rest of your catalog for the same issue. Our free TikTok Shop listing checker runs titles, images and attributes against the US listing guidelines.
