How to remove a negative review on TikTok Shop (and when you can’t)
TikTok Shop is clear: you cannot delete reviews directly. What you can do is report a review that breaks the rules, and TikTok Shop decides whether to remove it. Here’s which reviews qualify, how to report them, and what to send.
Which reviews you can report
Invalid or incorrect reviews:
- Multiple malicious reviews — one customer who buys repeatedly and leaves a negative review each time, or posts 1–2 star reviews with no content across many shops. This includes reviews on orders placed during a LIVE that are part of a coordinated pattern.
- Coercive reviews — a customer offers to remove a review in exchange for free products, samples, refunds or other services.
- Competitor reviews — left by a competing seller to hurt your shop or product.
Harmful reviews:
- violent, illegal or hateful content; harassment; adult content; dangerous acts;
- logistical problems — for example, negative reviews about shipping delays or carrier issues that aren’t the seller’s fault;
- inaccurate and misleading reviews that give false information;
- traffic diversion — for example, promotion links in the review.
A review that is simply unhappy with your product is not on this list. Those stay.
How to report a review
- In Seller Center, go to the Product Ratings page.
- Find the review (use the filters), click Review details, then Report review.
- Pick a reason, explain why the review is invalid, upload your evidence, and click Submit.
- Watch the status on the Product Ratings page.
An explanation you can adapt:
This feature is only available for select sellers. If you don’t see it, submit a ticket through the Help Center instead.
The rules that catch sellers out
- 30 days: you must report a review within 30 days of it being posted.
- Once per review: you can only report each review one time — so include all your evidence the first time.
- No guarantee: a report only means the review will be looked at. If it’s approved, the review is removed.
- One appeal: if you disagree with the result, you can contact customer support to appeal once.
- No limit, but don’t abuse it: there’s no cap on how many reviews you report, but sellers who misuse the tool may be blocked from reporting.
What evidence to upload
| Review type | Upload one of these |
|---|---|
| Multiple malicious reviews | Chat screenshots showing the customer never replied or wouldn’t engage in good faith; or screenshots of their 1–2 star review history across shops; or your listing, showing the review isn’t relevant to the product |
| Coercive review | Chat screenshots where the customer asks for free products, refunds or other compensation to change or remove the review, or threatens a bad review unless demands are met |
| Competitor review | Proof the reviewer is linked to a competitor — e.g. order details with a delivery address matching a competitor’s warehouse; or screenshots of similar review bombing on other sellers’ products; or your Manage Orders page showing many orders of one product in a short time, all with negative reviews |
TikTok Shop’s own example for “not relevant”: a customer says your protein powder didn’t help them lose weight. Upload the listing showing you said it’s only a supplement and doesn’t replace diet and exercise.
Why negative reviews matter: NRR
TikTok Shop tracks your Negative Review Rate (NRR) in Seller Center → Shop Health:
- Shop NRR: the % of negative product reviews from all shop orders delivered in the last 60 days.
- Product NRR: the same for one product.
TikTok Shop says you must keep NRR low. It groups negative reviews into product, logistics and service problems — so look at which kind you get most and fix that first.
Facts about reviews worth knowing
- Only customers who bought through TikTok Shop can review, after delivery, and within 60 days of the order being marked Delivered.
- Customers can edit or delete their own reviews at any time.
- Reviews stay visible even if the order is fully refunded.
- Your replies are public. For negative reviews, TikTok Shop suggests acknowledging the issue, apologizing if needed, and explaining how you’re fixing it.

Don’t make it worse
Asking a customer to remove a review for a refund or free product is review manipulation — the same thing you’d be reporting them for. TikTok Shop’s rules also ban:
- incentives of any kind for reviews — discounts, money, gift cards, free products, refunds — outside TikTok Shop’s own approved incentivized review feature;
- cards in the package asking for positive reviews;
- asking only happy customers to review, or asking unhappy ones to stay private;
- pressuring customers to change or remove negative reviews.
Penalties depend on how serious it is: TikTok Shop says one promotional card in a package might get a warning, while repeated review manipulation could lead to shop suspension. Asking for honest feedback, from all customers, with no reward is fine.
Review request messages TikTok Shop says are acceptable
These are TikTok Shop’s own examples — neutral, optional and with no incentive:
For a LIVE: “If you purchased this item, feel free to leave an honest review after trying it.” Send the same request to every customer — asking only happy ones is manipulation.
