Walmart “Reasonable Price Not Satisfied”: pricing rules and how to republish

Seeing “Reasonable Price Not Satisfied” in your item report? Walmart’s automated Pricing Rule unpublished the item because the price looked unfair. Here’s what triggers it and how to get the item back.

The rules

RuleWhat triggers itResult
Pricing RulePrice egregiously higher than current or recent prices for the same item on Walmart.com or a competing site, or price gougingItem unpublished — reason code Reasonable Price Not Satisfied
Pricing ErrorPrice so low it looks unintentionalItem unpublished — reason code Pricing Error
Egregious Shipping CostExtremely high shipping compared with the item priceUnpublished or not eligible for the Buy Box
Buy Box IneligibilityPrice substantially higher, but not enough to unpublishAdd to cart button removed; buyers can still buy via More Seller Options

Walmart checks the item price and the shipping fee together. Repeated violations can lead to suspension.

Find the affected items

  • the Unpublished Items dashboard in Seller Center;
  • an Item Report — the reason shows as Reasonable Price Not Satisfied or Pricing Error, and a Buy Box eligible column shows No for Buy Box ineligibility;
  • Seller Center notifications, if you’ve subscribed.

How to republish

  • Use the reference price. The Unpublished Items dashboard shows a Reference price for each item, calculated from competitor match prices, your historical selling price, the Buy Box winner, the average offer price, and Walmart’s own online and store prices. Use it as a guide for a more competitive price.
  • Republishing is automatic once the price complies — typically within 48 hours. If prices elsewhere rise, Walmart may republish on its own.
  • Still unpublished after your update? Keep adjusting until it no longer violates the rule.
  • Buy Box ineligible? After a more competitive price, eligibility comes back within up to four hours.
  • Shipping cost flagged? Lower the fee in your Shipping Template. You can edit a template’s shipping costs 10 times a day — more locks it for 24 hours.

To stay ahead of changing markets, the Walmart Repricer can adjust prices automatically within your limits.

Rolling shipping into the price

Allowed — but a price that includes shipping can look egregiously high next to other offers and trigger the rule. Walmart suggests keeping both the item price and the shipping fee competitive instead.

When you think it’s wrong

  • Price is intentionally low: contact Support via Help with documents showing the price is intentional.
  • Unpublished while others sell at the same price: contact Support with the item ID, current price, feed ID, the status change reason from the Item Report, and a Buy Box screenshot if relevant.
  • Item matched to the wrong product: in the Pricing Insights or Listing Quality dashboard, submit the URL of a comparable item. Walmart validates it within 48 hours; if it’s rejected, make sure it’s the same item and variant before resubmitting. If the match is right, lower your price instead.
  • Still unpublished after 48 hours with a compliant price: contact Support.

Resold items (pre-owned, restored, open box) can lose Buy Box eligibility if priced above a new item on the same page, with exceptions for some collectibles and luxury brands. For other unpublish reasons, run the Walmart unpublished item checker. For how the Buy Box works, see Walmart Buy Box.
