Walmart Negative Feedback Rate: how it’s calculated and how to lower it
The Negative Feedback Rate is one of Walmart’s Seller Performance Standards — and the only one WFS doesn’t meet for you. Here’s how it works.
How it’s calculated
- It’s the percentage of your Marketplace orders from the last 60 days that got a 1- or 2-star rating.
- If an order gets both an item review and a seller review, Walmart uses the lower rating.
- Ratings on orders older than 60 days don’t count.
- The standard: 2% or below.
WFS orders count too, but only for seller-related issues such as item quality or missing parts. Feedback about delivery or fulfillment on WFS orders is generally excluded. See Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS).
The drivers Walmart tracks
Walmart groups negative feedback by cause. Common ones, with Walmart’s advice:
| Driver | What to do |
|---|---|
| Defective / product quality | Inspect stock, work with trusted suppliers, check expiry dates |
| Item not as described / incorrect item | Accurate images and descriptions; check UPCs; packing quality checks |
| Damaged / packaging | Sturdy packaging suited to weight; test it |
| Missing item | Verify items and quantities before sealing |
| Arrived late / lost / carrier / invalid tracking | Reliable carriers, realistic lag time, valid tracking, scans at drop-off |
| Assembly or instructions | Clear printed and online instructions, all parts included, video guides |
| Item size or comfort | Accurate size charts and photos with size reference |
| Cancellation | Keep inventory current to avoid auto-cancellations; cancel promptly with a clear message |
| Return | Clear return policy, quick refunds — see Walmart return policy for sellers |
| Response quality | Check messages daily and reply helpfully |
| Pricing feedback | Stay competitive; Walmart suggests its Repricer tool |
A low rating with no comment falls under Miscellaneous — compare it against your returns, cancellations and delivery issues to find a pattern.
Find the orders behind your rate
In Seller Center, open the Performance dashboard and select View details under Negative feedback. Click each driver to see the reviews, or Download details for a summary of contributing orders. If seven or more drivers apply, smaller ones are grouped as All other drivers.
The Ratings and Reviews page in Seller Center also helps spot trends.
Unfair review?
If you believe feedback is inaccurate or unfair, select Help in the Seller Center menu bar to contact Support, and attach the order details and supporting documents.
