eBay’s default sort, Best Match, weighs relevance, listing quality, price, terms and your track record. Answer a few questions and the tool shows where your listing falls short — in the order to fix it.
Question 1 of 3
Fix red first, then yellow. Green is polish — don’t start by rewriting everything.
Visibility problems usually start before the title. Work from status to terms.
In Seller Hub, check the listing is active and has stock.
Policy notices and duplicate fixed-price listings can get listings hidden or removed.
Your track record feeds into Best Match.
Clear, specific titles and complete item specifics drive matching and filters.
Shipping cost, handling time and returns are part of Best Match too.
Rule these out in Seller Hub before rewriting anything.
With the out-of-stock option on, a listing at quantity 0 stays active but is hidden from search.
eBay allows one fixed-price listing of an identical item at a time.
Buyers who filter by brand, size or color never see listings without them.
Phrases like like Gucci or not Coach count as search manipulation.
Text, borders or a stock photo for a used item go against eBay’s photo guidance.
High shipping, slow handling or no returns weigh against you in Best Match.
Search results are personalized and filtered by location and settings. Search while signed out, and try the item number. If the item number finds it, the listing is live and the issue is ranking, not visibility.
It can buy extra placement, but it doesn’t fix an out-of-stock, duplicate or policy problem. Fix those first, then decide whether ads are worth it.
Then the listing is eligible and the question is demand and price: compare with recently sold listings for the same item.
